Combination of Products Ideal For Mobile POS Applications

EDISON, NJ, October 1, 2010 – Star Micronics America today announced that its

SM-S200 and SM-T300 portable receipt printers have earned certification from InfoTouch Corporation for use with the software vendor’s InfoTouch® Store Manager ES and Store Keeper POS touchscreen-based specialty retail point of sale software.

Neerman foresees the combination of the software and printers as ideal for mobile point of sale applications, primarily in garden centers. “The garden center business is very seasonal, and when they are busy, they are really busy,” he stated. “Using a wireless tablet with integrated credit card swipe, like the Partner Tech EM-200; Bluetooth bar code scanners; and mobile printers from Star, sales associate can accompany customers around a large garden center, scan the items as they are added to cart, finish the sale with a credit card, and hand shoppers a receipt, dramatically reducing wait time at the regular point of sale during busy periods.”

Both the SM-S200 and SM-T300 offer the ease and convenience of “drop in and print” paper loading, as well as a print speed of 80mm per second. Each unit also has an LCD display and an integrated magnetic stripe reader. Serial and Bluetooth connections are standard, allowing for rapid, hassle-free point of sale transaction processing away from the checkout counter.
