TSP650 Approved for MAXStick Paper
Star's TSP650 thermal printer, modified for MaxStick paper is now available for hospitality solutions. The modified TSP650 helps improve drive/thru and kitchen efficiency as well as communication.
MAXStick paper features a special repositionable adhesive which is applied to thermal or inkjet paper sealed with a proprietary coating. This means that the paper can be printed on with most roll printers to whatever length is needed, then stuck to almost any surface where it will remain until it is removed and, even, placed elsewhere. MAXStick is liner-free eliminating the need to manage non-recyclable waste.
MAXStick is an alternative to using silicone linered labels or tape. Since it uses no silicone liner it eliminates the negative environmental impact and helps cut back on in-house waste. Star has approved its TSP650 printer for use with MAXStick paper.

What is the difference between Windows XP and XP Embedded?
Windows XP is a very popular operating system for both home PC users and businesses. Windows XP is made up of over 10k components and many of these are utilized by home users and corporations. However, some components, such as Media Player, are not necessary for SMBs in the retail and hospitality industries who want to have a Microsoft OS for their POS system.
This is where Windows XP Embedded comes in. Windows XPe is simply a collection of all the components that make up the standard Windows XP application. The user can choose which components are relevant to his or her application, such as the Windows printing system or support for other POS devices. By installing only the necessary components, users can vastly reduce the size and cost needed for installation, two factors which are very important for thin client and retail POS terminals. Delivering Windows in a componentized form allows integrators to build reliable and advanced embedded devices for terminals demanding a small OS footprint, resulting in optimum performance.
Star Micronics proudly offers XPe drivers for many of its printer models.
