Star Micronics and Flash Order Partner to Provide a Self-Ordering Kiosk Solution for Restaurants

Flash Order and Star Micronics offer a complete system for order taking with a kiosk, menu wizard, and full-featured Kitchen Display System (KDS)

SOMERSET, NJ – APRIL 10, 2019 – Star Micronics, a leading manufacturer of mobile, point of sale (POS), and customer engagement technologies, is proud to announce that Flash Order has added support for Star’s TSP143III, SP742 printers, and CD3 Cash Drawers, and plan to add support for the mPOP. Flash Order, paired with Star Micronics’ printing peripherals, delivers a DIY (do-it-yourself) kiosk solution to restaurants as a fast and easy way to implement digital ordering.

Flash Order is seamlessly integrated with Square and brings the cost saving and operational efficiency of digital ordering to the Square POS. Using the menu wizard, restaurants can easily import their menu from Square or build it from scratch. Flash Order allows users to manage their orders through the Flash Order KDS or with integrated Star Printing. The KDS allows restaurant owners and managers to set targets for order prep times, expedite orders, and filter and streamline orders between the grill, cold, prep, or any other station.

Star’s TSP143III receipt printer offers easy-to-use LAN connectivity, along with high-speed printing, and “print-flat” technology. It is ideal for offering customers printed copies of their self-ordering receipt that contains important information such as order number, wait time, etc. and can also be used to deliver printer promotions with Star’s PromoPRNT technology. The SP742 is Star’s ultimate kitchen printing solution, built to withstand environments where high temperatures can erode the type on the kitchen order.

“Flash Order self-order kiosks are perfect for restaurants of any size from Food Trucks to multi-unit chains,” said Flash Order co-founder Weston Hafen. “Kiosks can eliminate long lines, increase revenue, and with our DIY approach a location can be set up and ready to take customer orders in minutes.”

The benefits of implementing the Flash Order kiosk system attracted The Wash, a late-night desserts and drinks shop. Sean Kang owner of The Wash said, “We love the Flash Order system. We have transitioned to run all of our transactions through the self-order kiosks.  It has transformed our business and our customers love it.”

Star Micronics and KitchenHub to Offer a Simple Online Order Management Service for Restaurants

KitchenHub helps restaurants to consolidate online orders from all major services with Star Micronics hardware

KitchenHub and Star Micronics eliminate the need to have a separate tablet, device, or printer for each online ordering service being used, while helping to increase the diversity of online ordering services accepted. The app offers a single, streamlined dashboard with all your online orders, with the smart interface making the management of these orders simple and efficient.

Currently, restaurants manage every online ordering channel separately, and many do not even offer online ordering. However, online sales channels help restaurants sell more food and grow their profits. It is critical for virtual restaurants—or “ghost kitchens”—as they exclusively sell online. KitchenHub helps to streamline this by offering one tablet and one app for all online orders from multiple channels, as well as helping restaurants to create their own online ordering platform on their own website.

Star’s mC-Print3, SP742, and TP654II printers are all offered with CloudPRNT technology, providing an easier way for restaurants to accept and print online orders. CloudPRNT will work with the online ordering service to store and create print jobs, and communicate status with the printer. The Star CloudPRNT printer will then pull these orders on a defined interval.

“Managing separate online ordering platforms is a true management nightmare,” says Jonathan Romero, KitchenHub customer and owner of four restaurants and two virtual concepts. “Now, with new partnership with Star Micronics, printing orders from KitchenHub app is easier than ever.”

Star Micronics Releases the Fast, Wide Format TSP847II AirPrint Thermal Printer

The release comes one year after Star Micronics unveiled the first-ever AirPrint certified receipt printer

Somerset, NJ – March 14, 2019 – Always leading—always innovating, Star Micronics, a leading manufacturer of mobile, point of sale (POS), and customer engagement technologies, is excited to announce the addition of the TSP847II AirPrint to its printer lineup.

The TSP847II AirPrint is the second Apple AirPrint certified Star Micronics printer, following the release of the TSP654II AirPrint last year – the industry’s first AirPrint certified receipt printer.

AirPrint allows POS systems to easily integrate with any iOS device. Eliminating driver installation, AirPrint users simply follow the familiar iOS print routine, printing from the label printer just as they would from a standard inkjet or laser printer. AirPrint also enables mobile control of Star Micronics’ cash drawer and ticket alarm.

With the ability to print up to 37 labels per minute, the TSP847II AirPrint is ultra-fast and capable of printing labels, tickets, forms, barcodes, and graphics on 3” to 4.4” wide paper. In addition to indoor use, the TSP847II AirPrint can be used inside vehicles for food delivery, field service, law enforcement, and more.

“We look forward simplifying to our customers’ businesses with the TSP847II AirPrint,” said Christophe Naasz, Director of Business Development at Star Micronics. “This ‘plug and play’ printer is the perfect solution for applications that generally do not support direct printing.”

Star Micronics Unveils Eco- and Business-Friendly Coreless Paper Rolls

Somerset, NJ – January 14, 2019 – Star Micronics, a leading manufacturer of mobile, point of sale (POS), and customer engagement technologies, is excited to announce its debut of coreless paper rolls that are budget-conscious, eco-friendly, and expected to improve both customer reputation and printer reliability.

The new Star coreless paper rolls will positively impact the environment, as traditional cores are petroleum-based, not biodegradable, and not always properly recycled. Implementing environmentally friendly paper rolls will give customers a greener footprint, helping them to create a more positive reputation. The new coreless rolls are also BPA-free and compliant with California Proposition 65.

Containing 290 feet of paper, Star’s new rolls feature 26% more paper than traditional, 230-foot rolls. The paper-per-roll increase will reduce roll-reload frequency, and the rolls aim to increase printer reliability by eliminating the risk of employees leaving an old core in the printer and having to force the printer cover closed over a new roll.

“We are delighted to introduce this new coreless paper,” said Christophe Naasz, Director of Business Development at Star Micronics. “We expect Star’s coreless rolls to not only benefit the environment, but also save our customers money in both the short and long run.”

Star’s new coreless rolls accommodate a range of Star printers but work best with the mC-Print3, which features Print Flat Technology to reduce the paper curl that is often associated with tightly wound coreless rolls. Other compatible Star printers include the TSP100III, TSP650II, FVP10, TSP700, and HSP7000.
